Thornton is a limited collection of just 13 private full floor residences with unrivalled river proximity and spectacular panoramic views of the Story Bridge, Eagle Street skyline, Botanic Gardens and South Bank.
The residences are a unique creative collaboration between Architect Liam Proberts, Gallerist & Patron Philip Bacon AM, Chef & Restaurateur Thierry Galichet, and Artist Ralph Wilson.
Liam Proberts is renowned for delivering contemporary designs that seamlessly connect with their surrounding nature. This enduring philosophy won bureau^proberts the prestigious Australian Institute of Architects John Dalton Award for Building of the Year 2019 for Thornton’s neighbour at Kangaroo Point, Walan.
Philip Bacon is a distinguished gallerist and significant supporter of the Australian Arts. He brings his wealth of expertise to displaying, hanging and lighting the private collections at Thornton.
French born Thierry Galichet has played an integral role in the Brisbane dining scene for over thirty-five years. His vision for designing each kitchen within Thornton began with an homage to the preparation of produce and cooking mastery. Thornton residents will revel in what he proclaims the engine room of every residence.
Brisbane born artist Ralph Wilson has exhibited in galleries across Australia since 1976. His works feature the prominence of rivers, waterways and the iconic Moreton Bay. This shaped the decision to commission him to paint the expressive artworks that will grace Thornton’s lobby.
Serenity, beauty and presence are too often undervalued in architecture, coming secondary to technology, trends and economy. In Thornton we have created a space that takes us back to first principles: that life is all about the smallest details and that a dedication to prioritising proportion, light and texture can result in spaces and views that are extraordinary.
